Jeannie Vercillo - Arcadia Ward

My name is Jeannie Vercillo and I have been a member of Arcadia Ward for over 50 years. I was born a “Latin from Manhattan” and never heard of Latter Day Saints until I was 16. My Mom raised my younger sister and me as a single Mother and we decided to visit her sister in California when I was 12. In the two weeks we were here she met and fell in love with a family relative and remarried! We moved from a tiny apartment in New York City to a lovely home in West Covina. I attended L.A. State (now called CSULA). I was living the dream! Heavenly Father opens so many windows and doors. Recently, I decided to devote a couple of pages in my journal to “Great Moments in My Life”. I find that I am not as aware of The Lord’s blessings as I want to be. Of course, meeting and marrying my sweet husband was a Great Moment. We still celebrate the day we met every year for 56 years! Another Great Moment came when I said “yes” to a high school friend who invited me to learn about the church and was baptized at the age of 16. I count having my amazing two children (both married in the Temple) Great Moments because I had never felt the closeness to Him as His daughter than at those times. That is, until I   went to the Temple. I experienced the Greatest Moment ever and it is  the same each time I attend. Although my husband is not a member,he supports me as I feel the joy of my attendance. There are so many  more Great Moments and it has been an exercise in humility and  gratitude to record them. It has helped me to understand why I love this Gospel and His Church. Jeannie Vercillo - Arcadia Ward
