Margaret Finlay - The Power of ONE

Margaret Finlay attends the Duarte Ward.  She will be teaching a class entitled "The Power of

ONE".  We will learn how to become better citizens and kinder neighbors in a divided world.  "Margaret has been an elected city Councilmember and 7-term Mayor over the last 35 years, elected to the Duarte City Council two weeks after her 5th child was born.  Brad and Margaret have been married for 48 years and Margaret says that she could not have done all that she has with City, Regional, State and National governance without Brad's help.  During these 35 years, Margaret earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration and has been asked to speak on local government issues in Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Israel.  She is a Past President of the California Contract Cities Association, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG, the largest Metropolitan Planning Organization in the US) and is the current President of the CJPIA, the largest joint powers insurance authority in California.  She is grateful to the people of Duarte that have elected her and have helped make the city a better place to live, work and raise their families.  One of the most fulfilling parts of her job is when she sees young people that were raised in the city, return to raise their families in a community that they loved growing up in"
