Susan
Marie Mullen was born in Newport Beach, California, to James Edward
Owen and Jane Marie Stabler. She joined the Church at the age of 25.
Sister Mullen received a bachelor’s degree in dance from Brigham Young
University, where she also taught ballroom dance and performed on the Latin Dance Tour Team. Sister Mullen and her
husband, Thomas E. Mullen met at BYU and are now working as adjunct faculty members in religious
education at Brigham Young University, where they jointly teach
missionary preparation. They are the parents of four children. Brother Mullens currently serves as a member of the Young Men general board. In their spare time they love to bike, hike, run, body
surf and ski. They are always up for an adventure.
Prior
to her calling to the Relief Society general board, Sister Mullen and
her husband served as mission leaders in the New York Utica Mission from
2003 to 2006 and at the Provo MTC as branch president and branch
missionary. She has served as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, institute
teacher, stake mission preparation teacher, ward Young Women president,
stake Young Women presidency counselor, and camp director. Sister Mullen
has also volunteered with the PTA and as a Pathway institute teacher.
Sister
Mullen enjoys adventures. She loves the scripture Doctrine and
Covenants 6:36, “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.”
